Taken 2

I think it is safe to say that Liam Neeson's family should never leave America ever again for any reason. Taken 2 is certainly not Gone With The Wind but at times it is effective as an action movie. It is no better and it is no worse then pretty much any generic action movie that you will see this year. The film takes place mostly in Istanbul Turkey which ironically enough featured heavily in the movie Argo where it was used to duplicate Iran. It was also a bit part of the latest James Bond film Skyfall. It is one of the most beautifully historic cities in the world and they have spent lots of money on increasing American tourism as well as in trying to lure Hollywood productions to their country. Both have worked extremely well. Quite honestly Turkey, especially Istanbul is probably the safest Middle Eastern and Islamic country that an American can visit in that particular geographic region despite the unfortunate and terrible events that happened in the country to a tourist from Staten Island who was murdered there. The film clocks in at just over 90 minutes and the action is efficient and well choreographed. Liam Neeson is making an excellent transition to being the go to Hollywood player as an action star. The plot of the film is pretty simplistic, the acting not exactly great and the amount of people that Liam Neeson's character kills and the ways in which he kills them is so outrageously over the top at times that the film's credibility is severely damaged at times. Still this was not the worse movie sequel that I have ever seen and there are far worse movies that you could watch.

  1. This another film I have not seen but I wasn't exactly excited to hear it coming out in the first place. I didn't think there was much more they could do with the story line but have someone once again get kidnapped. I like Liam Neeeson but this is definitely a movie I will wait for to come onto TV. It seems like a movie that'll occupy 90 minutes of my life on a Saturday morning once it's finally free on TV.

For starters, I've the first Taken movie and it was good, the story line consisted of events that can happen to anyone. Taken 2 I haven't seen all through, but I notice that the movie was similar to the first one.

  3. Taken 2 was extremely similar to the first one, but that is what everyone should have expected before viewing the film. It also looks as if Taken 3 is confirmed, which will have many people scratching their heads saying, "WHY?!" I don't know what the plot could be other than having someone else get kidnapped yet again. It seems as if they have "taken" everyone they could possibly take, so it will be interesting to see what direction the third installment will go in. Personally, I will avoid seeing it in theaters.

  4. I agree with you on most of those points. I thought that although Taken had a generic premise, it was still a pretty good movie. Taken 2 bored me to death, though. Instead of working off of the first film in a completely different way, too much of the original plot was borrowed from for the sequel. I was disappointed by that.

  5. I thought this was a very good sequel to what in my opinion was an awesome movie. I have to say, I agree with you that the killing scenes were a tad over the top. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie. Liam Neeson is the man so anything he does in a film is, well, great!!!
