Recent Television Shows

Highly recommend the absolutely brilliant show Rectify however, it is so emotionally depressing that it will wear you out. Also Spartacus the Starz series has just awful special effects combined with terrible dialogue and mostly horrendous acting. It is a very cheap version of 300 and yet it is remarkably popular. Lastly, The Vikings show despite my problems with it being on The History Channel is absolutely fantastic!

  1. I knew you would come around! Vikings is in my top ten favorite new shows.
I also watch Flight the other day but didn't like it as much as you did. I feel like they had all the stuff to make an amazing film and it was lost on the cutting table. It was a little too long and main character is a little too much of a jerkoff to care about. When bad things happened to him, I didn't feel bad for him and made me feel bored and unattached while watching the film. I think if they cut out that last night of drinking right before the trial and I would have felt much different about this film.

  2. Vikings is only top ten for you? You were right about the show it is fantastic and Gabriel Byrne is outstanding as the villain amongst villains. The music in the show is outstanding as is the acting and even the fight scenes are great! I love the show and I am hooked!
In regards to Flight You I think the last night of drinking was crucial to the film. The main character is not a nice person. He is a severely flawed individual with a serious problem. I thought it did a great job to show you how quickly the media and people go about labeling people's as heroes and how sometimes yes people are heroic in a moment but can still be deeply flawed and tragic figures. It is usually difficult to love a film when the main character is not at all likeable and that is why Denzel was a great choice because as an actor he immediately sparks a connection with people. I also loved the message of the film in that in the end you are the only person who can change yourself and atone for your mistakes and actions.
